Our relationship to water goes deeper than we realize.

Science has shown that a trip to the beach has the power to alter your state and cultivate happiness


Just picture this: You are sitting on the beach listening to the ebb and flow of the waves, while inhaling the smell of the sea. You are looking into the water...how does that make you feel?

Chances are you are feeling rested, restored, and recharged.

When we spend time by the water our minds are sent into a restful, almost hypnotic space. 


As scientists continue to study the blue space there is more and more evidence that spending time at the beach, the lake or any other body of water boosts your mental health.


This is primarily due to the following: 

  • The soothing sounds and smells of the water.  
  • The restorative properties of the minerals found in the sand and water. 
  • The color blue; blue is the color  associated with peacefulness.  



The beach has the ability to tap into some of our basic mental and emotional needs allowing us to de-stress and recover. 


  • Increased happiness: The sound of waves can put people in a true meditative state.  That kind of state is linked to increased mental clarity and reduced depression. Getting into this state regularly, appears to decrease activity in the part of the brain that is associated with negative thoughts and anxiety. 


  • Reduce Stress: The tranquility of the water can strengthen areas of the brain in charge of managing emotions and controlling attention. You are much more likely to feel centered, happy and at peace.


  • Boost Mood: Because your brain is relaxed, there is increased activity in the areas of your brain associated with joy, contentment and peace. 


  • Promote Connection: When observing the water, it is common to experience feelings of awe.  The vastness of nature shifts our prospective from "me' to "we" increasing our desire for connection and stimulates empathy. This makes us fully engaged in the here and now and more aware and appreciative of good things.

You can literally catch a good mood! 


Most, if not all beach goers around you are feeling the same powerful, positive emotions.  So its pretty safe to say that while at the beach, good feelings are soaring high. Even our four legged friends seem to love spending time at the beach. And they instinctively know whats good for them.  


Needless to say, we need to pack our belongings and head on over to the beach to catch those happy vibes!
